LONGVIEW founder Jim Long brings more than three decades of commercial construction experience spanning industries and sectors ($200K-$300M) including Multi-Family, Mixed Use, Corporate, Education, Government, and Community Redevelopment. He has held senior-level construction management roles on both the Developer and General Contractor sides of the business, affording him the broadest view possible of what it takes to get the job done properly and profitably.
HIGHLIGHTED PROJECTS:
Corporate: Sunoco World Headquarters (300,000 SF renovation); Dallas Main Center (72-story new construction)
Government: National Archives ($300M new construction); Pentagon (foundation renovation)
Mixed-Use: NoBa (private re-development Bala Cynwyd downtown); The Dane (18-story full renovation)
Community Redevelopment: Salvation Army Kroc Center (comprehensive 12-acre complex)
Prior to starting LONGVIEW, Jim was Director of Construction for Cross Properties in Philadelphia where he joined the leadership team of this entrepreneurial development and investment firm to rehabilitate multi-use properties and revitalize neighborhoods. He served as principal negotiator on multi-million-dollar contracts, from inception to close-out, and oversaw teams of design professionals, internal property managers, and contractors to repurpose and upgrade underperforming properties to Class-A space.
Jim's passion for his work runs deep. His grandfather, an electrician, worked on the original lighting for the Empire State Building and his father led the team that built a major metropolitan college campus. He taught Jim the joy of working with his hands, from replacing the brakes on a vintage Chevy to rewiring their modest Cape Cod. A first-generation college graduate, Jim studied pre-law but was drawn into the "family business" and never looked back. He still keeps a hand in many projects, from volunteering as a crew leader on Habitat properties to restoring playground equipment at a neighborhood elementary school, to helping build the walking paths along the creek in our hometown.
Jim resides with his family in Delaware County and can be seen most days with his constant companion, a 3-year-old rescue, Kirby, who keeps him in line.
